The lower limb examination is a physiotherapeutic examination that analyses the client’s posture and movement and tests lower limb muscle power and muscle stiffness. Foot and lower limb function are also examined. The examination shows, for example, incorrect foot functions and erroneous foot alignment.
The most frequent reasons for coming to an examination for adults and children are different pains and aches in the foot, ankle, knee, hip and back, and a difference in lower limb length, post-operational reasons; mainly regarding lower back or lower extremities.
We will also make an individual support sole if the client needs it for correcting a foot alignment, reducing pain or improving muscular functioning. During the examination the client will also get additional information and guidance.
If the client wants an examination for post-operational reasons or if he or she has been examined or operated on for other reasons, all respective documents should be brought along.
A client should wear comfortable and flexible clothes, preferably shorts.
An examination lasts 45–60 minutes.
The examination is performed by a physiotherapist who has specialized in podiatrics, i.e. the examining and treatment of lower extremities.
If the client is instructed to do exercises or if he or she needs to use support soles, we recommend the client to call upon the clinic for one or more controls. An examination could also result in an individualized physiotherapeutic treatment period.
